Introduction:
The hype surrounding internal detoxification processes for treating acne are at an all time high.
Naturally, this has spawned many companies looking to come up with their own versions. Since individuals are always looking for safe, natural, and non-toxic solutions for a variety of ailments including acne, you'll find no shortage of herbal products to meet that demand.
On the chopping block today is a product going under the name of Acnezine. Formerly know as Acuzine, it attempts to heal acne by using a combination of herbs and antioxidants. These factors help fight bacteria that cause acne, as well as parasites, toxins, laziness, stunted growth, brain tumors, etc. (excuse our sarcasm - ed.)
How it Works:
Acnezine, like most Herbal systems, doesn't really treat acne directly but moreover targets its causes. By cleansing toxins, your body is able to regulate hormones and prevent excessive production of oil to the skin. Consider Acnezine as a supplement for the vitamins and minerals that your skin needs - If your skin is properly nourished, breakouts can be minimized if not prevented.
This leads us to an interesting concept - Is taking Acnezine (or any of these products for that matter) really any different than taking a generic multivitamin from your local health food store...No comment.
The addition of a moisturizing cream to their lineup (something the competitors have been doing for quite some time) suggests that they do have somewhat of a commitment to creating the best system possible. Additionally, purchasing Acnezine gets you access to a 'members only' area which apparently offers support to its customers. A nice touch, and something that not all products offer.
Cost / Value: (as of Dec 1st 2007)
1 Month - $39.95 USD
2 Month - $69.95 USD
3 Month - $99.95 USD
6 Month - $159.95 USD
Reputation:
Company reputation (Ultra Herbal LLC.) looks mediocre, with this product being sold online since August of 2004. During this period, there have been 35 complaints to the Better Business Bureau, 9 of which have been resolved. This results in an 'unsatisfactory' record, though it only takes 2 unresolved complaints to achieve this. (they don't mess around at the BBB). The bulk of the complaints seem to involve refund and exchange issues, so if you do feel skeptical about this, or any other product for that matter, let it be known that you'll be rolling the dice trying to get your refund when you don't get the glowing, airbrushed completion you were promised.
Guarantee:
Though the Acnezine site touts a rock solid 'can't lose' refund and guarantee, we find it ironic that the majority of the complaints with their parent company involve just that. Final say - you be the judge.
Conclusion:
At the end of the day, there appears to be no evidence that what Acnezine offers is any more special than its competitors - it's ingredients and overall philosophy on acne control seem no better or worse than the others.
