What Causes Acne?
There are a good number of myths trying to explain the real cause of acne. Some say that acne is the result of skipping to wash your face often, while others say that acne is caused by the toxins in the blood. These may have some grains of truth in them - but they're not really the true cause of acne.
O.k then... SO just What does Cause Acne?
Ultimately, hormonal imbalance can trigger the development of this skin problem known as acne. Even if you wash your face every religiously, you can't escape acne outburst because it is a matter of hormonal imbalance than hygiene.
If your body undergoes hormonal imbalance, like the overproduction of the sebum or oil of the sebaceous gland, you will most probably experience having an acne breakout. The overproduction of oil causes sebum or oil, dirt, dead skin cells, and bacteria to be trapped in the skin pores.
This clogging will then lead to inflammation and infection that result in acne. This is the reason why teenagers and women often experience acne flare outs. Teenagers, (inpuberty), and women, (during menstrual periods), are the ones who experience drastic hormonal changes. Makes sense, right?
Although washing the face won't really eliminate the possibility of acne outburst, keeping it clean can help prevent flare outs or further infection as it removes the dead skin cells and dirt that could contribute to the clogging of skin pores.
Remember - You're not alone when dealing with acne...
If you have acne, you should not panic. Acne is a common skin problem that affects milions of people worldwide. It occurs not only in teens but also among adults. Whether it is caused mainly by hormonal imbalance or some other factors, make sure that you won't do anything drastic to aggravate the skin problem. You must avoid popping the bumps of the acne at all cost, for doing that may only spread the infection further and leave scars that are hard to treat or remove.
Exploring Treatments
There are treatments and medications prescribed by dermatologists to help prevent breakouts and keep the skin healthy and clear. There are also over-the-counter products that you can purchase to treat acne. If you are not sure about these products, it is best if you consult a dermatologist first. As a skin care specialist, he or she can also give you tips on how to prevent acne outburst in the future.
